Lawrence B. Hicks
“Lawrence B. Hicks was known—first, foremost and always— as a preacher of Second-Blessing Holiness. With his plentiful use of colorful adjectives and classical references, the rhetorical skills of this pulpiteer lent a force and sweep to his preaching that could only be achieved by study that was both wide and deep. But there was more— much more— behind the successful sermons. Hicks enjoyed a relationship so close to his God that the unction and might of the Holy Spirit permeated his messages.”
– from the book “A Little Bit of Heaven”

Preacher gives old fashion messages that touches the heart and soul. My kind of messages and preaching.
thank the Lord for preachers that preach without fear or favour
praise the Lord for this wonderful message
Hicks had an admirer in my father (a holiness preacher for decades). Dad loved to quote from Hicks book “There Has to Be A Heaven Somewhere”. A couple of years ago I downloaded a recording of Hicks and had him listen while in the car. He was enraptured and said there was no one like Hicks and I could not disagree. From the sonorous voice to the thorough grasp on the modern malaise Hicks sets the stage and then fills it to the brim with the passion of knowing God as sactifier. The congregation found themselves transported and soon threw their voices into the air to join LBH. Even the poor audio recording cannot extiguish the power of his preaching. Scholar (He mentioned Swanee = a classic southern college town)and pastor and homiletic standard bearer (he trills his “r”‘s), L.B. cannot but hold you and then escort you into the Holy Place.
That said, I was saddened to hear his overdone treatment of enjoying a nice swim (“are we naked?”) and other comments that foerever ensures the Holiness movement to be just someother ‘church’ majoring on minors & unable to speak cogently to moderns.
Thanks for your diligence and devotion to the cause that helps make the true history of the this tradtion all the more memorable.

L B Hicks was one of the greatest in my opinion preachers of the twentieth centuary. His preaching touched the heart and soul because he was filled with God the Holy Ghost
